Project Overview

In September 2020, Geoseas was commissioned to support a coastal protection initiative at Pearl Qatar, an iconic waterfront destination. The client required a solution to mitigate wave energy caused by frequent vessel traffic and active wave envirnment, in order to preserve the integrity of the coastline and nearby infrastructure.

The Challenge

Pearl Qatar experiences high levels of wave activity due to continuous vessel movements and natural coastal dynamics. This presented risks of:

  • Shoreline erosion
  • Damage to coastal structures and amenities
  • Reduced usability of the waterfront area

A sustainable, low-maintenance solution was needed to reduce wave energy impact and enhance the long-term resilience of the area.

Geoseas Solution

After conducting a technical assessment of the site, the Geoseas Engineering Team proposed the deployment of the HAMMER 750 Floating Breakwater System, known for its wave attenuation capabilities and robust design.

Key Specifications:

  • System: Single-layer HAMMER 750
  • Length: 160 meters
  • Anchoring: 2-ton anchors spaced every 5 meters
  • Water Depth: Approx. 7 meters
  • Installation Time: 7 working days

The HAMMER 750 was strategically selected for its ability to dissipate wave energy, protect against shoreline erosion, and maintain navigational flexibility in a busy coastal zone.

Results & Impact

  • Effective reduction in wave force reaching the coastline
  • Enhanced stability of the surrounding shore and marine assets
  • Quick and efficient deployment with minimal disruption
  • A long-term coastal protection solution built for resilience and performance
